They call it a red cabbage, but its leaves can change colour due to the pH value of the soil. The more acidic the soil is, the redder leaves grow. In neutral soils, the leaves will grow purple. Red cabbages are stacked with a good mix of vitamins and minerals especially folate.
Available all year round. Peak season is Autumn.
For optimum keeping, it is best to store cabbages in a dry crisp area of the refrigerator. If they have been cut into quarters or halves, it is best to wrap them in glad wrap to keep the leaves from drying out.
