Native to East Asia, Shimeji mushrooms are small to medium in size. They grow in bunches with slender stems and rounded button caps. The ivory cream coloured stems are slender, averaging 5-7 centimetres in length. These mushrooms are chewy and provide a herbal and nutty flavour.
Available all year round.
For optimum keeping, store Shimeji mushrooms in a paper bag and place them in the dry crisp area of the refrigerator.
