They are usually round in shape but can sometimes be slightly elongated with a firm, netted, cream or buff rind depending on the season. Different rock melon varieties have grooves or sutures running from end to end. The flesh is a bright orange to peach coloured which is moist with a sweet fragrance and seeds centred in the fruit.

Flavour - A distinctive sweet flavour. They should not be sour at all.  

Availability - Available all year round.

Storage - Store Rock melons at room temperature. Once cut, they need to be wrapped in plastic and placed in the dry crisp area of the refrigerator.
